SVKM's NMIMS Chandigarh recently hosted the second edition of the Narsee Monjee Half Marathon 2024, themed 'Mental Well-Being'. The event was a remarkable success, drawing participants from various age groups and fitness levels, all united in the spirit of promoting physical wellness, community building, and team spirit while celebrating individual achievements. The marathon garnered a pan-India presence, making it a significant event on the national calendar.
Distinguished Guests and Enthusiastic Participants
The grand event was graced by notable personalities, including Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary of Chandigarh Administration, and Mr. Amar Chauhan, an elite runner, who served as the Chief Guests. Additionally, Mr. Rajiv Tewari, Director of Public Relations at Chandigarh Administration, attended as the Special Guest of Honour. The presence of such distinguished guests added prestige to the marathon, highlighting its importance in promoting mental and physical well-being.
Prominent figures like Mr. Saurabh Duggal, President of the Press Club, and elite runners from cities such as Bangalore, Patiala, and Amritsar, also attended the event. Running clubs including Tr-City Runners (CTR), Runners of Amritsar (ROAR), CDR, The Run Club, The Hell Race, and IIT Mandi were well represented, showcasing the wide appeal and reach of the marathon.
Diverse Race Categories and Robust Support
The event featured three race categories: a 5 km run, a 10 km run, and the flagship 21.5 km half marathon, open to men and women of all ages. Participants received comprehensive support, including T-shirts, finisher medals, timing BiBs, finisher e-certificates, hydration and nutrition support, and medical assistance. This thorough preparation ensured a memorable and safe experience for all involved.
